HOW
LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET ORGANIZED, SIMPLIFIED AND DECLUTTERED?
This is
such a difficult question to answer because we are all such unique beings that
the process is unique for each person as well
and how fast or slow we do
things is so different that to predict how long it will take is nearly impossible.
It is definitely a process and a journey
once you understand why
you're disorganized, why you're complicating rather than simplifying things, why
you're still cluttered, why you're holding onto things, it might be easier to
predict how long it might take to finish
but the process is never finished
because we continue to change, grow, evolve.
Also, the amount of time it
takes depends on your answers to these questions
How much time/energy are
you willing to invest in the process? How resistant are you to change? Are you
attached to your stuff? Is it hard for you to let go of stuff? Are you willing
to let go of your old way of doing things and try something new?
Just remember
it took you so many years to get to this point ... so be patient and gentle
with yourself. Don't judge yourself
don't be ashamed
because we're
all on this journey together
WHAT ABOUT SUPPLIES?
Most
often, supplies need to be purchased to make the organizing process successful.
My philosophy is to buy only those tools that you really need, and have proven
to be successful from my experience. Only after we have decluttered and simplified
can we really tell which kind of furniture, bookshelves, filing cabinets you will
need to house the remaining files/items. The initial purchase of supplies includes
items such as colored post-its, hanging file folders and smaller office supplies.
These supplies can be picked up by you, picked up by me, or we can go shopping
together. If I pick the supplies up for you, you can just reimburse me. Otherwise,
if we go shopping together, you can pay for these expenses at that time. I recommend
the first buying session that we go together to pick up items so you can pick
out colors, and I can suggest the best organizing tools to buy.
